Building a Money Altar: Why Sacred Space Matters for Abundance 🕯️💰
Your altar is where heaven meets earth. It's where intention becomes reality.
People sometimes hear the words "money altar" and picture something elaborate. Crystals arranged just so. Gold candles. A perfectly curated little shrine straight out of an Instagram post.
That's not what this is.
An altar is simply a sacred space, a place in your home where you focus your intentions, connect with the divine, and do your money magic work. It doesn't have to be elaborate. It doesn't have to be expensive. It just has to be yours.
I want to tell you about mine. And at the end, I will share something I’ve been working on, and it will explain why I share about money altars.
My Altar Isn't Themed. It's Lived.
My main altar has sat on a shelf in my living room for years. It isn't curated around money or magic in any formal sense. It's simply a collection of what matters most to me.
My grandmother's rosaries are there, worn smooth by a life that asked everything of her. A small piece of art my son made as a child. Things I've found in nature over the years: a butterfly wing, feathers, the shed skin of a snake. Prayer cards from my Catholic childhood, soft at the edges from years of handling. And at the center, a statue of Mother Mary, because whatever shape my spirituality has taken over the years, that connection has never wavered.
I also keep a second altar centered on Quan Yin, a porcelain statue I found in San Francisco's Chinatown more than thirty years ago. She has traveled with me through loss and rebuilding and coming home, watching over rooms in California, and now here in Port Townsend.
And then there's my money magic spell station, a large, shallow bowl where the actual working spells and magic happen, where intentions get written down. Where things that need releasing get burned. Where I create the magic that makes up my businesses, which are my passion.
I tell you all of this because I want you to understand something important: an altar is not built from a shopping list. It's gathered, slowly, over a lifetime. The rosaries weren't placed there for their symbolism. They were placed there because they were Grandma Peggy’s, and she's gone, and holding them keeps her close.
Your altar will look nothing like mine. It shouldn't. It should look like you.
Why a Sacred Space Matters
When you create a dedicated space for your desires and intentions, a few things happen.
Your desires move out of your head and into the physical world. You create a visual reminder of your commitment to abundance. Every time you walk past it, you're reminded. The space becomes charged with your energy over time. And having a specific place to return to makes it so much easier to actually be consistent with your practice.
It can be a shelf. A windowsill. A small corner of a dresser. What matters is that it feels special. That it's intentional. That it's somewhere you actually want to return to.
💎 Crystals for Your Money Altar
Citrine — The Merchant's Stone
Citrine has been used for centuries by tradespeople and merchants to attract wealth and success. It carries bright, sunny energy; optimism, abundance, and the confidence that prosperity is already on its way to you.
Pyrite — Fool's Gold, Real Magic
Don't let the nickname fool you. Pyrite is a powerful manifestation stone, often used to actively call in wealth and opportunity. Its metallic shine mirrors the energy of gold itself.
Tiger's Eye — Confidence in Action
Money work isn't just about attraction; it's about courage. Tiger's Eye builds the confidence to take the inspired action your manifestations are asking of you, and helps you trust your own decisions along the way.
Clear Quartz — The Amplifier
Clear Quartz amplifies whatever intention it's near. Place it in the center of your altar to strengthen the energy of everything else you've gathered there.
Green Aventurine — Opportunity & Luck
A gentle, steady stone for opportunity and growth. It's a beautiful addition for anyone calling in new income streams or chances they haven't seen yet.
Blessing Your Space
Once you've gathered your items, take a moment to bless the space and activate it.
Cleanse the area first; sage, incense, or even just a few moments of quiet intention. Then, as you place each item, say aloud what it represents. "This candle represents the light of abundance in my life. This crystal holds my intention for prosperity."
Light a candle and speak something like this:
"I bless this sacred space. This is my altar of abundance. Here, I connect with the divine. Here, I manifest my desires. Here, I honor my worthiness. May this space be filled with love, light, and prosperity. And so it is."
Then sit with it for a few minutes. Let the space settle into itself.
Start Simple
You don't need to buy anything new to begin. A stone from a walk. A candle. A photograph. Something that belonged to someone you love. Something that simply makes you feel abundant when you look at it.
The important part is creating the space and returning to it. Tomorrow. And the day after that.
An altar you ignore is just a shelf with things on it. An altar you return to, even for two quiet minutes each morning, becomes something else entirely.
It becomes a conversation with the sacred that never really ends.
We have everything you need to start your own money altar right here in the shop: citrine, pyrite, tiger's eye, clear quartz, candles, and more. Come in and let us help you gather what calls to you.
Something I've Been Working On... ✨
Some things take time to write. Some things take a lifetime to live first.
I haven't talked about this much. Honestly, I wasn't sure I was ready to.
But it's time.
I have been quietly working on something; late nights, early mornings, scribbled notes in the margins of my own life. A project that came from my many years of working with money, as an accountant and a Certified Money Coach. And certainly Soulful Abundance and my experiences with growing the shop over the past 3 years, in many ways, helped me finally finish.
It has my grandmother in it. The rosaries on my altar. The accountant brain that never quite let go of me, even after everything changed. The losses and rebuild. The crystal grids on my dining room table. The years of learning, sometimes the hard way, what it actually means to live an abundant life.
I’ve written a book. It is called: The Abundant Witch - Money Magic, Manifestation & Your Most Prosperous Life
That's all I'm going to say today.
Next week, I'll share more: what it is, what's in it, and how you can get your hands on it.
It is being published this week.
I have never been more nervous or more excited and ready to share something in my life.
See you tomorrow. 🕯️
With love,
Jenn ✨
